Guard Challenge—Ball Handling Workout

 

Warm up:

            Circles—head, waist, knees, ankles, either direction

            Figure 8’s passing

            Leg Circles—leg circle drops

            Figure 8 drops

            Dribble circles

            Dribble figure 8

            Quick hands (drop it between legs or side to side—don’t let ball hit the floor)

            Drag

            Spider dribble

 

  1. Four Move—Full court point guard move
    1. Pull-up jumper at right elbow
    2. Crossover dribble and lefthand layup
    3. Stop and go move
    4. Killer crossover (double cross)

 

  1. Two Basketball Drill
    1. Dribble around center circle 2 times forward, two times backward
    2. Full court up and back twice—cross over at half
    3. Make five free throws or repeat #2

 

  1. Zig Zag Dribble (two dribbles and change direction)

a.       Down and back three times—keep head up.  First time crossover, second time between legs, third time behind the back

    1. Make five free throws or repeat #3

 

  1. Figure 8 Dribbles Between Legs
    1. 50 dribbles then switch directions—keep your head up!
    2. Make five free throws or repeat #4

 

  1. Between Legs Full Court—two times up and back
    1. First time dribble between legs
    2. Second time no dribble
    3. Optional—go backwards
    4. Make five free throws or repeat #5

 

  1. Weak Hand Workout
    1. Two times up and back full speed with weak hand
    2. Make five free throws or repeat #6
